Mother’s Day 2022: The Power of a Praying Mother

Happy Mother’s Day! ❤ This Mother’s Day is extra special for me because I was able to fly to Texas and surprise my mom! She had NO idea I was coming. Needless to say, it was such a great surprise and I am enjoying my time with her and my family in Texas for a few days.

But I am also so grateful to sister Alicia Maldonado for agreeing to speak with us for this post. For those of you who know sister Alicia, you know what a beautiful woman of God she is. She has been a faithful member of Clovis Tabernacle for years and she holds a special place in my heart. When thinking about writing a Mother’s Day post, I knew I wanted to ask Sister Alicia to share on the blog. She is a beautiful example of a praying mother.

Sister Alicia has three sons, and for many years her sons were not serving the Lord. She would bring their names before the Lord and the church for prayer. And I know without a doubt she prayed and interceded for them consistently. I asked her to share about her story in hopes that it would encourage other mothers out there to continue praying for your prodigal sons and daughters. Like sister Alicia your prayers may not be answered overnight, but God hears every one of them and it is not His will that any should perish.

Sister Alicia wrote some of her testimony to share with us below 😊

“I Alicia Maldonado, mother of three sons, Moses (46), Michael (45), and Elbert (39). As I remember back when my sons were young they loved church. I came to church when my youngest son Elbert was a baby, not even a year old, my son Moses was seven, and Michael was six. I was going through a lot at this time but I prayed for us that God would give us the strength and prayed for my sons that God’s will would be done and teach them God’s ways. Unfortunately, we didn’t stay in church there for a while so my sons got used to the world. I returned but then my sons became men and I had to pray harder that God would give them the opportunity to be saved again and to continue working in their hearts and minds. I never gave up hope and always trusted in God and still do for my other two sons.

(Side note: Sister Alicia’s oldest son, Moses recently came back to God and we are rejoicing with sister Alicia and Bro. Moses for what God is going in their lives 🙌🏼 Bro. Moses and his wife are awesome and are such a blessing to our church).

“I’m still praying for my son Moses that God’s will continue to be done in him and keep him focused and willing and to strengthen him and use him in a mighty way. I thank God for hearing my prayers and for what He has done for me. God is so good. Thank you for the blood, He’s an amazing, awesome, and wonderful God. I could never thank Him enough for His mercy.

Keep us in prayer. Before I came back to church, I felt a fear about who was going to pray for my sons if I was lost. At this time I knew the Lord was dealing with me and God really opened my eyes. Now I know my pastor was praying and fasting for me. Thank you Jesus.”

Sister Alicia, what would you tell the mothers out there who are still praying for their prodigal sons and daughters to come home?

“Keep having that faith and hope that they’ll return. Fast and believe and trust in the Lord that they will come back one day. If not soon, it can happen anytime such as me.”

What scripture or book of the Bible has been an encouragement to you when praying these memorial prayers?

“Isaiah 40:31. But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.”

Thank you so much sister Alicia for sharing some of your testimony with us. It’s amazing to see the power of a praying mother. And I believe God will bring them home soon ❤️

I hope this post encourages you and that you have a wonderful Mother’s Day! God bless 😄

  3. Praise the Lord, thank you sister Alicia for sharing your testimony with us. It giving us hope when dark moments happen in our families. Thank you for touching on the importance of a praying mother. There’s nobody that could pray more intense for your soul than your mother because she knows the sacrifice that cames with it, the pain she had to endure, the suffering that she had to overcome, to give birth to that child. Thank you again
