Blog’s One Year Anniversary! :)

I hope everybody had a great Monday! Today is the blog’s first anniversary. Exactly one year ago today, I posted A Love For Truth’s first blog post, Keep Your Candle Burning. Here we are, 22 posts later! God is good. Some of you may have read the post, The Story Behind the Blog Name. You may remember how I decided on the name A Love For Truth. But I have not gone into much detail about how this blog came about.

Growing up, I did not like writing. I dreaded school essay assignments and research papers. When I got into college, that pretty much changed. I began writing about things I was more interested in while taking various English classes. There was one class in particular that really made me realize how much I liked writing. I was a Junior in college and I took a Creative Writing class. Now this was not my first choice for an English class that semester, but the class I tried getting into was already filled up. So I browsed our university’s class availability list and I enrolled in the Creative Writing course. I was a little hesitant when I saw how interactive the course was. Our professor loved getting the class involved and she always had us discuss our essays/essay ideas with one another…even to the point where we would literally read our completed papers aloud for the class to proofread and discuss feedback. And as someone who does not like to be in the spotlight, this was difficult for me to adjust to.

The very last paper we wrote that semester was my favorite. We got to chose a personal essay to write. Now for those of you who may not be very familiar with creative writing, it is not like writing a research essay or thesis paper. It’s exactly what is sounds like, CREATIVE writing. We used a lot of descriptive writing that involved the senses without blatantly stating what was going on in the story. Well for this paper I wrote about an experience I had one weekend with a couple of Sunday School bus kids. I won’t be sharing that essay today, but perhaps one day in the future. The essay I wrote was called, “Life Toucher.”

Years ago, my pastor advised us in a Sunday School meeting that we should not just be soul winners but Life Touchers, to touch someone’s life in a way they would never forget you or how you made them feel. And this phrase stuck with me while writing this creative essay. My essay described how one evening I was leaving the grocery store to go meet up with some of the youth at a church family’s house. While in line, there was a lady ahead of me with her two young kids. I felt a burden to invite them to church. As I was walking to my car outside, I saw the mother and her kids. I approached the mom and told her about Sunday School and the Sunday School bus we picked up kids on. The mother agreed to let them go and the daughter in particular was so excited. The next morning we picked them up on the bus and they went to church with us. That young girl, whose name was Cali, was a blessing to me that morning. She jumped, and played the tambourine, and ran the aisles with all of her might. She was only about six years old then. I’m summarizing a lot, but I mentioned how she was the Life Toucher that day because she reminded me why we outreached and why we did our Sunday School routes every week. She reminded me of the importance of being a Life Toucher.

Long long story short, that class made me realize that I enjoyed writing. And it truly was in my heart for years before that to start a blog but I did not have any ideas on what it would be about. But after 2020, I felt it was time. After praying about this blog and talking with my pastor about my ideas, A Love For Truth was created.

I have loved writing, interviewing, and sharing posts with you all. I am so thankful for everyone who has read and commented. There are about 1,600 views on the blog so far! Your support has been such a blessing to me. It has also been amazing to see how many people from different nations have viewed the blog. From Canada, to China, Ecuador, Mexico, the United Kingdom, South Africa and others, there have been multiple countries who’ve viewed A Love For Truth in this first year. And all the glory to God!

This is truly just the beginning of where I’d like the blog to go. I have more Pillar Series interviews planned, blog ideas written down, and blog pages to come. And if you have any feedback or suggestions for future blogs please let me know in the comments below! 🙂 Happy One Year Blog Anniversary! And Lord willing this is the first of many to come. I appreciate each one of you, thank you all for reading! God bless! 😀
