The Lord is our Strength

“I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.” Philippians 4:13
During our Sunday services my pastor has been having some of the young men go up and quote a scripture or passage of scriptures. Well a couple of Sundays ago, he called a couple of young ladies up there as well to quote a scripture. He said it was important that our young ladies know the Word too. He called one young lady up there, and before she quoted her scripture I told God that if my pastor called me up, I would quote Philippians 4:13. Well this young lady goes up to the platform and believe it or not, out of all of the verses of the Bible, she quotes Philippians 4:13! My pastor then called my name and told me to come and read a scripture. I panicked, because while I knew there were other verses I could quote, that was the one I had felt to say. Because a couple of weeks ago it was a scripture that I repeated to myself many times. More on that later…So I went up there to say my scripture and I was going to read Psalm 121. But then I stopped and looked across the congregation and I told them how I had just told the Lord that I wanted to read Philippians 4:13 if Pastor called me up, but that it had already been read. Then my pastor told me to read the scripture again. So I read it, “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.” My pastor told me to read it again. So I read it again, “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.” Then he said to read it again but louder. And as I began reading it for the third time, I started to cry. And I read it again, “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.” And then I handed the microphone back to my pastor. But I felt so much strength after quoting that verse three times.

A few weeks ago, I was having a difficult week. It was not one thing in particular, but I just needed more and more of God’s strength. I was very thankful for the opportunity to go up there and quote Philippians 4:13, because God knows I needed it. And like I said I had been quoting it to myself all week long. On that same Sunday morning, our song leader quoted it while leading praise and worship. And for the young sister before me to quote it, I knew it was a confirmation. And I knew God was letting me know that He was my strength and that I was not alone. Sometimes we try to do things on our own strength, thinking that we can handle it all. But it is foolish to think that we can ever get by in life living on our own strength. We need the strength of God. The scripture says, “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.” It does not say I can do all things through my own strength. No, it says I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me. We have to stay full of the Holy Ghost so that we can access that strength everyday. The scripture says, “Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.” I just wanted to encourage everyone to draw strength from the Lord. We can do all things through Christ who strengthens us. God bless you! 🙂

  1. Good morning, I can’t agree any more. I too been pushing my way through my daily routines. Felt the need to call on Jesus many times through out my week. The past week has been rough emotionally and spiritually not so much physically. However… that’s when I realized that without the Holy Ghost I wouldn’t be able to go through with these hard times we are facing. I do remember that Sunday when our Pastor was calling up youth to the platform. It was so awesome to see each one go up to quote Scriptures that day. This is normally done every church service, but that day it was needed for all to hear! Thank you for share Sister Daphnee. God bless
