Loyalties

Praise the Lord! I had some time off work this week and I was sitting here thinking about how time goes by so fast! Just a couple of weeks ago we reached the halfway point of 2023. As of today, July 13, 2023, we are on day 194 of 2023, 53% into the year. Statistically, most people have long since abandoned their 2023 New Year resolutions. In fact, multiple studies have shown that only about 9% of people actually complete their New Year’s resolutions. This percent is low considering almost 40% of Americans set New Year resolutions every year, meaning less than 1/3 of people actually achieve their resolutions. And you may ask, why is it that the percentage is so low? Some of the top reasons why New Years resolutions fail are because people lose motivation, they are too busy, or they become lazy and give up.

My pastor preached a great message Sunday night about loyalty. He talked about how people are loyal to many different things. I was thinking about his message this week about how it can relate to these resolutions we set each year. I believe the reason many fail is because of our loyalties. We can have such high hopes about resolutions and goals but ultimately they fail because we did not stay loyal to them. We got sidetracked, we lost motivation, and we simply gave up. We have all fallen guilty to this. And of course I’m referring to more than just New Year’s resolutions. We have all made commitments to people, to ourselves, and even the Lord, only for them to fail after a couple of days, weeks, etc. But why? Because of our loyalties.

If something or someone truly matters to us, we will follow through on our commitments despite the amount of time or work needed. And I am so thankful that my pastor preached about this because I felt the Lord reminding me how loyal and faithful He has been to me. And I aspire to be loyal and faithful back to Him.

This was a short post, but I just wanted to share what the Lord put on my heart. I hope everyone is doing well! 😁 Our church is preparing for our annual Family Camp and I am so excited for it! I have a couple of interviews for the Pillar Series that I plan to have ready in the next couple of weeks. Also I have added new things to the Apostolic Resources page if you’d like to go check those out! Thank you so much for reading! God bless you!

Know therefore that the LORD thy God, he is God, the faithful God, which keepeth covenant and mercy with them that love him
and keep his commandments to a thousand generations;
