I created this blog at the end of 2020 but I did not publish my first blog post until March of 2021. When deciding on a name for the blog, A Love For Truth was the name I loved the most. During Covid quarantine, some friends and I were discussing ways to keep the young people involved and engaged in the Church and in work of the Lord. Because while Covid brought great revival throughout the Church, there were also some saints who left. And of course we will continue to pray for each one of them to come back home. But I mentioned how I felt that what our generation needed the most was A Love For Truth.
When we have a genuine love for truth, we may fall, we may experience tough times, trials and tribulations, but our love for this Truth, for God, will help us to stand back up. It can be easy to get distracted by the things this world has to offer, but our love for Truth will keep us close to the Lord. It can be easy for us to feel sorry for ourselves when we experience trying times, or go through seasons we feel we do not deserve, but our love for Truth will keep us coming humbly to the Lord in an altar. Our love for Truth will keep us reading our Word. Our love for Truth will keep us witnessing to others about the goodness of God. A Love For Truth is a love for God and His Word. When we have A Love For Truth, we will not be easily swayed in the wrong direction, but we will cling to this precious Truth. I cannot adequately put into words how beautiful and crucial A Love For Truth is, but I pray that this blog would encourage us and help us to cultivate our Love For Truth.
I also wanted to share about the amazing youth service we had this past Friday at our mother church. Brother Austin Garrett preached about, “The Love Clause.” It was a beautiful reminder how important A Love For Truth is. It was definitely a service where I feel like many of us reconsecrated ourselves to the Lord. Brother Garrett started off talking about when the children of Israel were leaving Egypt and heading to the Promised Land. He talked about how Moses sent out twelve spies to scout out the land of Canaan. But ten of the spies came back with a negative report, while Caleb and another spy (Joshua), brought back a good report and believed the Lord would help them to succeed. This was because Caleb had a love for the land that his fathers before him had prepared. Caleb loved the Truth that was passed down from his fathers. And Caleb had a son-in-law, Othniel, who chose to conquer the land, because he had that same love for Truth that Caleb did. Brother Garrett went on to say that after Caleb and Joshua passed away, there rose up a generation who knew not the Lord. This generation had no love for Truth. Brother Garrett was encouraging us all to be an Othniel in this world, to love this Truth that our fathers have fought for. He demonstrated this by walking with his grandfather, Elder Garrett, and he honored him for fighting for this Truth as a young man. It was truly a beautiful service, and I am very thankful for this wonderful Truth that we have. If you would like to listen to the preaching, I attached it below 🙂
